we took avery for a second check up with her pediatricain and her ears are just fine!

I think the ER doctor's were too quick to diagnos a double Ear infection. they saw a sick baby with a temp. and figured it was typical ear trouble....
Avery's a breast fed baby and that keeps the ear trouble away. she's not one of those snotty nosed, day care baby's that get stuck with a fake bottle of formula that are always fighting something and end up getting TUBEs in their ears. my girls a healthy natural well cared for baby.
What's wrong with today's medicine?

we are feeling major new teeth arriving on both sides of her lower jaw. that could be some of her discomfort and drainage.....those suckers are sharp too!

I'm very glad she doesn't have an ear infection. Those are miserable!

Just an FYI... even breastfed babies get ear infections. My children have all been breastfed and also all plagued with ear infections. My oldest two have even had to have ear tubes. In our case it is apparently their ear anatomy -- they're just very prone to them. My husband still gets ear infections at least twice a year -- and he's in his mid-thirties! (Pretty rare for adults to get them.) The kids just got their dad's ears.

Yeah and some people have to send their kids to daycare whether they want to or not. I had to and I breastfed my son for 4 months and then tried to pump but couldn't pump enough breastmilk so i had to put him on formula part of the time and then he weaned himself after about a month. He had ear infections the whole time I nursed him, but all kids are suseptable to ear infections, not based on breast or formula...

I didnt mean to sound anti daycare or formula fed....
I'm just making a point of the health benefits of the breast. and noting the fact that my baby isnt exposed to as many health problems or risks associated with Mass children and germs.

Maybe Avery's getting her molars? Apparently they're a lot more troublesome than incisors.

You know, sometimes those ear infections can't be helped. We don't smoke, Gus was never in day care, and was breastfed, and he had 17 in fifteen months!! He ended up getting tubes. I had four sets as a kid - it's hereditary. I hope I don't go through the same thing with Rock.

Oh, and that isn't his real name, you got the picture, right?

I think doctors are TOO quick to pin any achy feelings on ear infections on little ones. They pump them full of meds & send them on their way, with antibiotics they don't always need.

I'm glad baby girl is ok! Hugs to her!

Hey now. Easy on the working moms. We're not totally evil. And while there are indeed benefits to breast feeding, especially in terms of bonding between mother and child, I believe some of that is propaganda since breast feeding is now in and formula feeding is out. Society now has a huge stigma against moms who don't breastfeed, giving anxious moms something else to worry about. If you notice, anyone who is formula feeding almost immediately offers up a reason why she's not breastfeeding. Rather sad that we can't all support each other.

I watched a report on The Early Show and they talked about a study that said antibiotics are usually not needed in most cases of ear infections. Good to hear Avery is feeling better! (And that I am able to post on your blog!!)
