sweet girl crawled over to my desk and pulled herself up so I had to let her say her part in this post. TILL she spilled my chocolate milk in my lap!
I need to make plans for her birthday...any suggestions? its in 5 weeks and falls on a Friday. I dont know what goes on for children's birthday parties but I do know I want to have a celebration of some sort....cake and silly decorations/balloons I just dont want it to be so hot and should i wait till Saturday to plan the event so more friends/family would be able to attend?

yes definatly wait till sat. I go all out for parties but with the twins i keep it simple cause they do not know any better I say bbq hotdogs cake and ice cream and presents.
but remember you need to get her own little cake so she can dig in to it for the first time. That is a tradition if you have a vons or ralphs in your town they usually give them for free.i made my own. if you go to my arcives of sept the pocs for the twins first is in there
Yes, do it Saturday. Take advantage of fitting it to your own schedule while she doesn't know any better. If you don't want to skip the actual day, make her a cupcake with a candle then have the party the next day.
My sister would always get or make a little cake just for the birthday baby that they are allowed to dive into and smear all over themselves. Other than that, at her age it's more a celebration on y'alls part so just keep it simple, do what makes you and Avery happy..and yes have it on a Saturday, more time to prepare and more people can come.
pick which ever day you want it to be, and if they can make it, they will. don't let the guests stress you out w/ 'that's not a good day for me, or that time doesn't work' Pick according to Avery's scd. and what works best for you and batman. Parks are good for bday parties! Easy food, like hot dogs, and you can ask your family members to bring a dish to pass. Makes things much easier for you :) AND, if you have it at a park, you don't have to worry about cleaning your house. Super bonus. Cakes can be $$, so I always make ours. Good ole' betty crocker works for me. I'm terrible at frosting, so I always put sprinkles all over the top! Perfect for covering my not crafty frost job :) Whatever you decide to do, it'll be fantastic! First bday's are very special!!!
Avery isn't going to enjoy the party so do it when it's convenient for you. I would just have a couple family and friends over and take lots of pictures as if you had a huge party.
In Singapore, most birthdays are held on either Sat/Sun 1 week before before the actual birthdates.
Yes, simple finger food, lots of decoration, lots of picture taking and of course most importantly family/friend bonding time.
Enjoy!
I read somewhere that it's a good idea to keep it short- 2 hours or less - so that Avery doesn't get overtired and stop enjoying her own party.
