I scrolled down farther and found a story about a 15 lb. 2 oz. baby born this year in England.
All I can say is - OUCH!
Giving birth in a hospital is fine by me. A hotel would not be preferable.

Robyn,

I gave birth in a birthing center with our second child...(Kimmie, the one holding the guinea pig on Chris's blog), and it was a really neat experience...all of my family got to be there and it was very relaxed...no bright lights shining down on me when I was in pain, etc...I could get up whenever I wanted to, could get in the jacuzzi, could change positions during birth, whatever...it was my call as opposed to just doing what the Dr. ordered. Are you considering it?

Bless You--I know how you are feeling about now...

hi Ruth Ann, It's nice to hear from you

I dont know the first thing about childbirth, other then it's a natural process for a womans body. My doctor is pretty laid back and the hospital I will be running too in labor pains has a great birthing center with jacuzzi and such.
I can hardly wait for the big event. but i dont know If I really want all of my family being there. i just want to be focussed and calm during this gig. I wouldnt mind having them share in this if I knew that they wouldnt be adding stress to my situation.
I just pray that i'm strong and the labor is quick and that baby Avery is born healthy, is that too many things to ask for?

thanks for dropping in, hopefully I'll read you again.

I thought hotel rooms were where the baby process STARTED, not finished...

It does kind of seem fitting to end up there, after 9 month, too.

Actually from reading what people said about it, it did not seem too bad. I liked the idea of ordering room service. :)

I thought it was funny the one that said the hotel ordered flowers. Seems they figured it out. Hahah.

It sounds like your hospital has a nice set up. I am thinking that the midwives/birthing centers gave them some competition, and so the hospitals became more customer focused and created a nicer environment for the monthers.

However this whole deal about the Father being in there doing stuff has got to be revereted. I just want to pass out cigars like in the old days.

Hi Robyn!
Thanks for visiting my blog the other day.
I'm due in August with my third. If you want any childbirthing advise or have any questions, you can drop into my blog and give me a heads up and I'll come back over here and do what I can for ya.
Unsolicited advise is usually unwelcomed, so I like to be asked first.
*wink*

FAMILYMAN,, lol

CHRIS, I liked the idea of room service too but i dont know If I will ever beable to relax in another hotel. I 'll be constantly wondering if some woman's water broke in there...gross!

SADIE, nice to hear from you. and thank you for understanding about pregnancy..It seems as soon as anyone finds out that I'm expecting, all the advice and childbirth stories begin. I dont want to hear all of that. but I will keep you in mind as a mentor if needbe. Its always different when the words come from another swollen tummy. take care.
